CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 344-340 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.66 g, 8 h). Nude warrior, holding spear and round shield in his left hand, dismounting from horse prancing left; below, Δ. Rev. TAPAΣ Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to left, holding trident over his shoulder in his right hand and placing his left on the dolphin's tail; below, K above waves. Fischer-Bossert 662 (V254/R517). HN Italy 876 var. (unlisted reverse type). Vlasto 442. Harshly cleaned and with a pit on the obverse and a graffito of 'M' on the reverse, otherwise, good fine.
